#defragcon Dave Jilk > the idea of authoritative source is flawed because it is so easy now for anybody to publishPeter Vander Auwera
Jilk’s solution to a new way of validating is based the following:

–Knowledge has a shape, and it is a deep and rich shape.

–Event information is transmitted by documentation and/or witness.

–The witness can have evidence or rely on evidence.

–Both are then analyzed.

The new way of evaluating should be based in

Failure modes of Independence:
    Collaborative: Political talking points
Synoptic: They are using the same source
Correlative: Similar philosophies lead to similar conclusions

All the steps in the chain of testimony must successfully transmit truth, like the telephone game. There are failures in the modes of testimony:

–Attention, distortion, interpretation. We add our bias to what was experienced.
–Memories fail.
–Objectivity, competence, sincerity.

“At the time of perception, we add to the perception in a way that creates bias without even knowing we added it.” @djilk at #defragconiSpin
